MERRY CHRISTMAS my dearest Gundam Wing Lovers!! It was touch and go there for a while and we weren't sure we'd make it but we can proudly give you our traditional Christmas Eve release! Yeah, it may not be a holiday-themed one-shot this year, but you can still enjoy it with a little bit of eggnog. After all, Gundam Wing was the one-year-war and it will always be synonym of Christmas! ^__~
War Stage 06 - Uchuu wo Kakeru (First Half) by Yumi Moriyama
Remember the hints I mentioned in the previous post? This is definitely the installment we were waiting for! We're not only reaching the final phase (with only the Second Half and an Epilogue left after this release) but the ending of this stage it's also the point from which everything changes. Moriyama-san doesn't just or gives us another interpretation of what happened in Gundam Wing through some BTS stuff with a yaoi slant, she goes full on insane and completely rewrites the story of the last few episodes!!
The G-pilots are still holed up in Peacemillion. But Relena has been captured and Heero has decided to go on a suicide mission to save her. Still, his unvoiced feelings are getting in the way, making him consider what his non-relationship with the braided pilot means in the grand scheme of things. Which obviously means the perfect soldier is yet again acting like bit of a jerk... jealous an demanding and confusing. Cold and hot in turns. Meanwhile Duo only wants for Heero not to throw away his life again. Even if that means taking matters into his own hands...
We are changing canon, ladies and gentlemen, and it's quite a memorable sight!! (you'll probably wish it had actually happened this way!).
Hello there, my dearest Gundam Wing addicts!! After the sad announcement two weeks ago, and after seeing how incredibly awesome and understanding you all are (seriously, some of your comments nearly made us cry...) we pushed ourselves to bring you some happy news too. And isn't today the best day to give you a treat? (we promise it's not a trick!).
War Stage 05 - Kono Uchuu ni Tsubasa wo by Yumi Moriyama
In this fifth installment of this awesome 1x2 centric story, we finally reach the juicy (not to mention wonderfully slashable) last ten episodes of Gundam Wing. Peacemillion time is a fan and author favorite because not only all five G-pilots are reunited under the same roof and with the same goals for the first time since the beginning of the series, but also it's the first time our star-crossed lovers see each other since their not too pleasant time as prisoners of OZ.
After the events of the previous book, we know Heero finally has finally come to accept the strength of his own feelings, but he also believes he's toxic for the braided pilot. Meanwhile, Duo is still completely unaware of the perfect soldier's change of mind, and he's completely convinced he doesn't deserve to be loved... Of course, more yummy emotional messiness ensues!!
Oh, and if you pay attention, you will realize that from this stage, there are some slightly different details that don't quite fit into the original timeline.. that's only a small taste from what's to come in future installments. Because Moriyama-san is not telling us what happened behind the scenes, she's actually rewriting history!! ;)
Well, this is the announcement that nobody wanted to make, but after realizing it's been close to five months with no releases and that there's still not fixed date in sight for a new one, we had to admit defeat and let you know that we are regretfully reaching the end of the line.
It's been six wonderful years, full of new friends, heaps of fun and, of course, amazing doujinshis to share. But as you may have noticed by our increasingly irregular releases, for the last couple of years we've also been struggling to juggle our fandom life with exponentially bigger responsibilities and a hectic real life... so with less and less time to dedicate to our hobbies and with different interests in sight, we have to accept that we can no longer dedicate to this little project the time and effort it deserves.
We are not closing down just yet, though, we still intend to finish the War Stages series as it's only four installments left and we would never leave you hanging like that. But when War Stages is finished, so will be Todokanai. Of course, this community with all its download links and information will still be here for everybody to enjoy but we won't release anything new. War Stage is our very last project.
So, hum, not yet a goodbye but an explanation you all deserve? We will see you in the next War Stages release! (which if RL behaves, hopefully won't take too long!)
Hello there, dear Gundam Wing junkies! Another month has gone by and I bet most of you are craving for a fix right now. So here we are with a new wonderful release that we are sure will leave you completely satisfied!
Foundation by Enju Hasegawa
Today we are presenting you with another Heero/Duo doujin by the incredibly talented Enju Hasegawa and her amazing 1x2 circle Loose. True to her style –which most of you are familiar with, thanks to a previous story released exactly one year ago (heh!)– Hasegawa bring us again a masterful mix of comedy and drama, spiced with a surprising amount of character depth, and decorated with a breathtaking art to boot!! What else could we ask for?
As most of Loose's works, today's release is set in a post-Endless Waltz environment in which all the G-pilots are now an integral part of the Preventers force. Heero and Duo are living together in apparent domestic bliss. But their relationship is suddenly shattered when out of the blue the Heero kicks Duo out of the house without any apparent reason. Can Quatre find out what really went wrong and make the ex-perfect soldier realize he's giving away his only chance at happiness? (or something...).
Long time no see, my fellow Gundam Wing addicts!! After a few months of absence in which Real Life has been a Really Demanding Bitch, we are here with the next installment of that 1x2 series you were missing like crazy! We do know how to make a comeback, huh?
War Stage 04 - Yoru ga nemurenai by Yumi Moriyama
The fourth installment of this 1x2 epic masterpiece full of angsty moments covers the gap between episodes 23 and 24. Duo lets himself to be captured by OZ in order to have DeathScythe repaired and obviously also to be reunited with Heero again (that's never explicitly said in the series, but we know the truth! ;P). Regretfully, the braided pilot doesn't get a very warm welcome by either his captors or his fellow g-pilots. What will happen when Trowa, which is still undercover, is taunted by OZ soldiers to prove his loyalty? And how Heero, which is still in denial, react when he discovers what happened in that interrogation room?
To be honest, there has been half-translated copies of this book available around the net for ages, which means most of you probably know exactly what's going to happen (not that it's a surprise, poor Duo just doesn't seem to catch a break in this story) but you will realize that all conversations and thoughts make a lot more sense now in the context of Duo and Heero's quite unstable relationship. Because sometimes you have to give a step back in order to give two steps forward!
Happy belated New Year my dear friends!! How is 2013 treating you? In todokanai we believe the best way to start with the right foot is to share the love with all our fellow Gundam Wing fans, so here we are with another awesome release for all of you!!
Touch & Go! by Midori Saiha & Yuuki Kamon
It's been a while since we released a Duo/Heero story, so we decided to come back with a blast! We have already released several stories by these two talented authors, so all of you should know already that the circles Ringo Zaidan and Shirakawa Yofune Rengou are kind of the flagship of the 2x1 doujin world, due not just to their incredibly beautiful and nearly-canon art, but also to their deep understanding of Duo and Heero's character flaws and their complex relationship.
Today's release is composed by two short post-war stories –one of each circle– in which our favorite ex-pilots are already in a established relationship and both authors approach it in a completely different, yet compatible, way. In the first story, the most serious one, we have a touch-starved Heero being unable to show his true feelings and unknowingly pushing Duo away. In the second story, a more light-hearted one, we get to see Heero being the damsel in distress for once!.
But what both stories try to tell us is that no matter how deep the inner scars due to their less-than-ideal childhood are... love always finds a way!
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS my dearest friends!! Can you believe it's the fifth Christmas we spend huddled together around our private Gundam Wing Tree? And this year, yet again, we are delighted to find a beautiful 2x1 Christmas themed doujin under it!! Because we know you're all very good children! ^__~
Christmas Carol by Aria Pokoteng
There aren't many doujins out there from the very talented Aria Pokoteng and her 2x1 centric circle K2. This circle was active in the Gundam Wing fandom for a very short time a few years after the series was over, just when most other circles were already moving on to greener pastes, but it still managed to make a huge impression portraying in an incredibly realistic way the deep and complex relationship between Duo and Heero in the post-Endless Waltz era.
When you read one of K2 doujins, you really come to believe this could have happened, because eventhough Duo and Heero certainly deserve happiness together right away, the war and their difficult lives left a profound scar inside them which needs to heal before they can fully come into themselves. Happily ever after may not come easy, but it'll come eventually. And I can guarantee the wait makes it even sweeter!
Today's release is all of the above and more. A long plotty story about a lost child who was taught to be the Perfect Soldier and yet never learned to wish anything for himself, who never knew how to start living even after the war was over. It's also a story about finding and accepting the person who was always there for him and made him realize that it was okay to want. A story about holding into for what really matters. A story that starts and ends with the beautiful music of Christmas Carols...
Hello again, my fellow fanatics!! It's not yet Thanksgiving Day but from Todokanai we thought that every day is a wonderful day to give thanks for having Gundam Wing to our lives (and I'm not even joking here!). And what a better way to do it than immersing ourselves in the wonderfulness that's 1x2?
War Stage 03 - Rasen Kaidan (The Spiral Staircase) by Yumi Moriyama
It's been three long months since we released the previous installment, and I bet you were all waiting eagerly for it, weren't you? After all, it finally seemed like there's a breakthrough and Heero, in spite of his nearly unforgivable mistakes, is starting to come around. Now it's time for recovery, talking, atonement and of course, more angst. Because nothing is ever easy for our G-pilots.
The events of this book starts just a little while after the previous one. They are still in hiding and sharing an apartment. Duo is still far from recovered, plagued by nightmares due to a understandable huge case of PTSD. And after realizing the mistake of his ways, Heero is going through a hell of a soul-searching... even if he still has a very peculiar, contradictory and confusing way of showing how much he cares...
Hello again my dear friends!! Summer is gone and Autumn has put our RL upside down, but after this small delay here we are to give you a new release which hopefully will bring back a little warmth to your hearts and a little rest to your minds!
Lies and Truth by Toriya Shimazaki
Dark Knight Company was probably one of the first 1x2 circles ever created back in 1996 when the vast majority leaned towards 2x1. So we have very talented pioneer in our midst that opened the doors for what was to come in the next few years. And what a way to break the wall, Shimazaki's stories not only have have a psychological edge that lets us understand the characters mindset, but her drawing is beautiful, delivered with a graceful line kept lively by dynamic layouts.
Today’s release is a quiet overlook of Heero and Duo's relationship during the Eve Wars in four acts. They are in a established relationship, but none of them acknowledge it and there's still a lot they don't understand about each other... But even if it's not easy and seems a little dysfunctional, it works, because they complete each other.
Hello there, fellow Gundam Wing addicts! Only a few more weeks of Summer left now, so make sure to enjoy every minute! But whenever you take a few minutes to rest, don't forget to read this our new shinny 1x2 series!
War Stage 02 - Down Under by Yumi Moriyama
We didn't make you wait too long this time, did we? Only two months after we released the first part of this very intense Heero/Duo series, here is the second installment. And things are only getting more complicated! Yumi Moriyama certainly knows how to play the angst factor, but also how to give us enough hope mixed to keep us hanging on!
This book starts when Duo learns that Heero has survived his attempt at self-destruction, but they won't cross paths again until he's captured and Heero helps him scape from Barge. But regretfully, it's not really the reunion the braided pilot was hoping for. He's hurt, abused and scarred after his encounter with the OZ soldiers and it seems the perfect soldier doesn't take too well to anybody touching what's his... even if he won't admit to himself quite what that means.
